With this being a shared and collaberative wiki, there needs to be some aspects that cannot be changed from one setting to another. One such included aspect is the formatting of time. This is to ensure that no matter who adds their own work into the wiki, it will always be able to fit in on a scale of time. The way this is handled is a combination of set Eras and user-driver Ages.
All events can be classified as fitting into one of three Eras. The first Era is to include all settings which could be considered age-old history to our own current time. Generally speaking, the medieval settings in which most D&D settings and RPGs alike use have a tendancy to have their own histories spanning many thousands of years and so putting all of these into their own, infinitely large Era is one way to deal with this issue. The second Era is to include all settings which would be considered modern history to our own current time. Settings which have a lot less majesty to them such as how Call of Cathuhlu games are most commonly ran in the early 1900s or Zombie Apoc games ran in the current year. Finally, the third Era which is to include all settings set in the future to our own current time such as the near-future of cyber-punk settings like Shadowrun or far-future settings of Star-Trek Adventures.
Within each Era, though mostly in the first and third, there is the concept of an Age. An age is the spanning of one-thousand years. All events within your settings history will fall into one of the three Eras and then into one or more Ages within it. If people wish to keep their events seperate from others in time, they can simply name and create a new Age, or if they wish to have events coinside with that of another settings, they can use the same age(s). Here is an example of the format;
Age of ActuallyNotToBadRightNow
Age of Strive
Age of NotMyProblem
All ages and events shown in the Era list should be shown in chronological order to ensure easy understanding of events. The listed events should link to their own event page and have the year within Age that it happned, with users being able to go to the event page to find out more specific details about it. The page for the first Era can be found here, the page for the second Era here, and the page for the third Era here and all three can be accessed through the navigation bar on the left side.
